Grafting Wild Olive Trees (Delice) to Integrate Them into the Economy and Support Farmers

Yudum Egemden, in collaboration with the Tohum Association, has launched the "Project for Economic Integration and Farmer Support through Grafting Wild Olive Trees." Initiated in 2022, the project began with grafting 1,500 wild olive trees in Manisa, marking a significant step toward sustainable economic transformation. In 2023, approximately 2,500 wild olive trees were grafted in Kirazlı Village in Kuşadası, Aydın, and these trees were handed over to villagers during a special event. Additionally, the "Yudum Egemden Olive Forest" was established in Ayvalık as part of the project, with ongoing tree planting efforts in the region.

This project is implemented with support from İzmir, Muğla, and Balıkesir Regional Forest Directorates and technical contributions from İzmir Olive Research Institute. The initiative aims to unlock the economic potential of wild olive trees in Turkey, targeting a minimum contribution of 60 million dollars to the national economy through a sustainable local development model.
